A Safe and Engaging Place to Learn and Grow
YMCA Expanded Learning Programs offer a safe, engaging space where kids can learn, grow, and explore beyond the school day. Serving over 90 schools across San Diego County, we provide high-quality before and after school programs, along with fun intersession opportunities, all thoughtfully designed to support academic, emotional, and physical development.
In partnership with local vendors, artists, and educators, our programs feature a wide variety of hands-on experiences that spark curiosity, inspire creativity, and help students discover new skills, interests, and potential career paths.
Students engage in activities like:
Exploring robotics, photography, and other technology
Expressing creativity through art, music, and dance
Engaging in hands-on STEM projects
Strengthening confidence through sports and team play
Building friendships during fun summer field trips

LED BY CARING, COMMUNITY-BASED TEAMS
YMCA Expanded Learning Programs are led by paraeducators and youth development professionals who live in and reflect the communities they serve. Each team member completes comprehensive onboarding and ongoing training in:
Academic support and enrichment
Positive Youth Development and relationship-based practices
Safety and emergency protocols
Our staff build meaningful relationships with students and work closely with school personnel to ensure consistency and contribute to a positive campus environment. With deep community roots and a shared commitment to student well-being, our teams strengthen the connection between school and out-of-school time.
