Welcome to the World-Famous Ecke YMCA Skate Park
Located in Encinitas, this skate park is one of the largest and most dynamic skate parks in San Diego County. Our all-concrete facility features a mix of transitions, plaza elements and mini ramps—perfect for skaters of all levels. Mini Land offers a great starting point for beginners, while experienced skaters can push their limits in our kidney pool, sponsored by Spy and recognized as one of the best of its kind.
We’re also proud to house the Olympic-size half-pipe donated by Team USA skater Bryce Wettstein—a local legend and longtime supporter of our Y.

SKATE LESSONS | PRIVATE, GROUP, SEMI-PRIVATE
Lessons begin the first week of every month. Classes are one hour a week and run for a total of four weeks. We offer group, private and semi-private lessons.

SURF-SKATE TRAINING
Surf-skate training uses a specially designed skateboard to practice surf mechanics on land—no waves required. It’s one of the most effective ways to improve movement, balance and muscle memory in a fun, controlled environment. Just one minute of surf-skating can equal the benefit of riding ten waves!
Surf skateboards are provided. Participants must bring their own safety gear.
PRIVATE LESSONS | Ages 9+
- 1-hour lessons, available every hour
- Monday – Friday, 11:00am – 4:00pm
- Bring your own safety equipment (helmet, elbow pads & knee pads)

Meet Coach Lorenzo
Based in Encinitas, Coach Lorenzo is known as “the coach that cares.” With over 40 years of experience, he’s one of San Diego’s most technical and intuitive surf coaches—and one of the few in California using surf-skating to elevate his students’ skills. Lorenzo works with skaters and surfers of all levels, offering supportive, personalized coaching to help each athlete reach their full potential.
ROLLER SKATE LESSONS
Whether you’re lacing up for the first time or looking to level up your skills, our expert instructors are here to help! Choose from private one-on-one lessons or semi-private sessions with a friend—perfect for personalized instruction and faster progress.
Lessons are open to all skill levels, ages 5 and up.
- 30-minute or 1-hour single lessons available
- Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday | 3:30 – 5:30pm

HOMESCHOOL SKATE PROGRAM
Ages 6-12
Homeschool skate is back! In these classes, amateur skaters will have the opportunity to improve their skills, learn proper skate park etiquette, make new friends and have fun with other homeschoolers!

Party Includes:
A host to help with any set up and to make sure the kids are having a great time
Gift bags for all the skaters and a small gift for the birthday kid
